Tool Tuesday – Knipex Insulated Tools

We’ve said this before, but in many cases the best and cheapest way to build your toolbox, especially with high-end German tools, is to take advantage of the many different combo packs that are available. We’ve showcased other brands before, but today we’re highlighting Knipex and specifically some of their sets of insulated tools. Insulated tools are an essential piece in any HVAC tech’s or electrician’s tool bag as they help protect you from accidental electric shock when working with live circuits. The industry standard is that these tools are rated and “guaranteed” to protect against up to 1,000 volts, though they are tested up to 10,000 volts.

Knipex 13 piece insulated setOne of the most comprehensive sets of Knipex insulated tools is the 13 piece Knipex 9K 00 80 03 set. The set is perfect for any level as it contains probably the most commonly used tools including six different screwdrivers, a cable knife, several different cutters and a few sets of pliers. No matter where you’re at in your electrifying career, chances are you’ll need one or all of these tools. One of the best things about this set is that comes with a tough carrying pouch that keeps your tools organized and protected from damage. Through that pouch in your tool bag and you’re ready to roll.

Knipex 7 piece insulated set.If your job is a bit more focused and you don’t need as many insulated tools, there’s still a few sets for you too. There’s a couple 5 piece sets that would be an excellent choice for basic tasks. The Knipex 9K 98 98 22 US has a Phillips, a slotted and a square tipped screwdriver in addition to a basic cutter and lineman’s pliers. The Knipex 00 20 13 is a similar set but contains a needle nose pliers instead of a linesman set. Lastly, the Knipex 00 21 15 is a seven piece set that mixes the two different pliers, the cutter, a Phillips and two slotted screwdrivers. What it adds though is a set of Alligator pliers and a hard plastic case. This set is a great option in that it gives you a good balance of what the previous sets offer.

Whatever your need for insulated tools is, any of these sets are great options. They may also be great gift ideas for the family electrician, after all, why not get them one of the best and safest brands of tools around? Are you a fan of Knipex tools already?
