Your Basic Soldering Resources

EIO is dedicated to providing you with all of your electronic needs as well as answering your electronic inquiries. That said, today's post provides some basic resources on soldering. In a nutshell, soldering is the process of joining two or more pieces of metal together by using a filler material (solder). One heats the metal which hardens when it cools down, successfully sticking the metal together. The process can also be reversed and the metals disconnected (desoldered) by reheating the metal. Every project begins with the basic soldering tools: a soldering iron and soldering station (such as the Velleman 50W Soldering Station). Roger Arrick provides this basic mantra: "Heat the metal, not the solder." It would be remiss to give a tutorial on the "how to's" of soldering. So here are some informative links on Soldering 101.
