Our Scotch-Brite™ Cut and Polish Flap Brush Steel Core features flaps of tough, dense webbing that allows aggressive blending, cleaning and deburring of metals. The flaps are bonded around a steel support core, so the brush stays sturdy when run on finishing equipment. This creates a firm support for the softer mesh material that removes surface contaminants without damaging the work piece.

This cleaning brush is constructed by firmly attaching mesh flaps around a steel core to make a wide and round brush used for cleaning and finishing applications on wide sheet and coil metal. The core provides durability and long life, while the softer, abrasive infused mesh flaps cut quickly and evenly. Typical applications for our flap brushes include finishing, graining, light deburring, and light cleaning.
Aluminum Oxide Abrasive
This flap brush uses aluminum oxide abrasive, which is a popular choice among industrial professionals because of its cut-rate and long life. This mineral is a tough, durable abrasive that self-fractures to expose fresh cutting edges in use, whereas traditional abrasives, such as garnet, quickly wear down with use. Due to its high cut-rate, hardness, strength, and low heat retention, aluminum oxide mineral is widely used in grinding applications in addition to sanding and finishing use. Aluminum oxide is suitable on a wide variety of substrates in both woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys.
