Key points

  • Environmentally friendly: Although PP is not biodegradable, it is recyclable, making it a more environmentally friendly option compared to other plastics.
  • Ultralight: PP filament is very light, allowing printed objects to float easily.
  • Flexible and tough: Unlike some more brittle filaments like PLA, PP has a degree of flexibility and toughness, meaning it is less likely to break under pressure or stress.
  • Chemical Resistant: PP is resistant to most acids, bases and solvents, making it suitable for applications requiring chemical exposure.
  • Low shrinkage factor: While it may show some shrinkage, PP is generally less prone to warping than other materials such as ABS.
PP (polypropylene) filament is a very lightweight filament for 3D printers. The printing temperature is slightly higher than PLA, but it is easy to use and resistant to acids and alkalis. Due to its low density, objects printed with PP filament can float easily. Another advantage is that it doesn't break easily! This material is ideal for model making, drones, and more. Tip: Since PP doesn't stick to printing sheets like our BuildTak, we recommend using a polypropylene sheet (if your 3D printer doesn't have a heated print bed). This prevents warping when printing large objects.
