Key points

  • Flexible, cross-shaped sanding pad fits into holes or channels of various sizes
  • Abrasive is bonded to heavy, X-weight cotton cloth backing for durability during sanding
  • Ceramic aluminum oxide blended mineral breaks down to reveal sharp cutting edges
  • Durable resin bond resists deterioration from heat, extending the life of the cross pad
  • Cross pad attaches to a compatible mandrel (sold separately) for use with a die grinder
3M Cross Pad 747D is used for polishing of small radii and channels, deburring the ends and insides of tubing, and other special applications. When inserted into a hole or channel, the flexible cross shape conforms to the inside diameter of the workpiece, making this a versatile accessory for your finishing jobs.

Designed for Tough Jobs The X-weight cloth backing of our 3M™ Cross Pad 747D supports both grinding and polishing applications. It has a closed coat of aluminum oxide abrasive secured with a heat-resistant resin bond. This cross pad works well where polishing or deburring is needed. The cross pad attaches to a threaded mandrel (sold separately) that attaches to a die grinder or power drill. Together, the mandrel and cross pad enable the user to grind or finish the inner contours of various-sized channels. Max RPM depends on the size of the pad.

Blended Materials that Stay Sharp
The surface of the 3M™ Cross Pad 747D is covered with blend of ceramic and aluminum oxide mineral, which enhances the toughness and hardness of the grain. Perfect for stock removal, ceramic abrasives are engineered to fracture frequently for a super-fast cut and can handle intense heat and stress applications. The ceramic/aluminum oxide blend surpasses aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability and makes our 3M™ Cross Pad 747D an excellent choice for moderate stock removal and surface preparation.

High Quality Construction
Abrasive grains are attached to the pad using an anti-friction resin bonding material, which helps the abrasive run smoothly over the workpiece. A grinding aid coating is also added to help the abrasive stay cool during grinding, minimizing heat and improving abrasive performance. This attribute, combined with the semi-flexible X-weight backing, make this pad a good match for projects that require a strong sanding tool that can be used with minimal space or leverage.
