They are compatible with all standard modular RJ45 plugs and EZ-RJ45 Cat6 connectors. These boots protect the connector, prevent broken release/locking tabs, and help prevent tangled messes. They relieve stress on the cable and help maintain the radius bend. They cover the external ground on shielded connectors. They come in multiple colors for easy coding and identification.
